When is Cloudflare “real IP” actually needed for WordPress

    This is the question I’ve had for a long time, because it seems like some country detection plugins for e.g. WooCommerce work fine without it, at least… this is from my memory!

    There are many web developers wary of logging real user IP addresses these days because of GDPR and other privacy regulations and just to avoid logging personal data when it’s not really necessary.

    On a different but related note, Cloudflare has this header available

    So when does a WordPress site actually need the real visitor’s IP vs. just grabbing the visitor’s country instead from the header?

    That is my question.
