Guesthow hard is it to make 120k/year as a freelance data analyst??
byu/el_empotrador inBusinessIntelligenceApparently people think it’s a high paying job, but it’s not really. Probably like anything else, comes down to people skills and kissing ass to keep high paying clients around.

Guestyah I could see like someone with Excel skills wanting to get out of their boring desk job and learn some SQL to become richer as a freelancer, but if you are good at python or any programming really, why in the world would you choose this career?
you could go code mobile apps or launch an SaaS or whatever with those skills??

I’m a data analyst, and when I pitch clients for my side hustle, offering services like customer segmentation and operational insights, they often respond by saying they already have ERP or CRM systems like SAP or Oracle. They don’t see the need for a data analyst, as their current systems already provide the necessary information.I get stuck at this point. How should I respond to such questions? Also, I focus on providing solutions to SME businesses. How can I convince them that data analytics can bring real value to their operations? For example, when I approach a restaurant owner and offer to track their entire operation and provide insights into day-to-day business operations—such as identifying top-selling items—they often say they already know this information and don’t see the added value. Could you shed some light on how to pitch my services effectively in these situations?

GuestI don’t get it either.
Are these guys contacting the local pizza shop and trying to “analyze” their entire operation and magically give insights how to grow their sales

GuestSeems more like one of those in-house jobs that pays amazing for a bank or government office but as a freelancer, I have no idea how you get rich. Sounds like hell trying to sell that service to the average SMB unless they are very high sales, with a big budget and already know they want analysis and why it benefits them.

GuestHow about ChatGPT or AI tools? It’s it free

GuestHaii, expert here.
Data analysts take screenshots of Google Analytics, feed to ChatGPT along with random CSV files they find on their client’s Google Drive folders, generate 55-page PDF reports in 5 minutes and then bill the clients $5,000 month retainer for growth and industry insights.
