GuestI just updated WooCommerce Stripe Gateway to version 9.3.1 and now it says “WooCommerce Stripe Gateway legacy checkout experience will no longer be supported in a subsequent version of this plugin. Please migrate to the new checkout experience to access more payment methods and avoid disruptions. Learn more”
in the Plugins dashboard…
is this a good or bad thing? I’m getting tired of major Woo changes!

GuestDoes this mean Woo is going to support Stripe payments natively now? How does this factor in with their Woopayments plugin?

GuestIt is NOT being deprecated. The “legacy checkout” from that plugin is being deprecated. Their messaging, like always, is absolutely terrible.

GuestThe notice itself isn’t a bad thing. Stripe is just warning that the legacy checkout will eventually be removed, so it’s worth planning the migration rather than waiting until it becomes mandatory.
The new checkout generally gives you access to more payment methods and ongoing improvements, but if your store has custom checkout code, I’d test everything on a staging site first.
If you’re reviewing your payment stack anyway, it can also be a good time to compare gateways. We’ve been looking at instant settlement solution lately because it supports card payments, multiple payment methods, and API integration for WooCommerce and other ecommerce platforms. Depending on your business, having another payment provider available can be useful if you want more flexibility or are expanding internationally.
WooCommerce changes can definitely be frustrating, but this particular notice is more about future compatibility than an immediate issue.
