    Review this thread:

OLS seems like an insincere FOSS project, tldr

And remember that many of the features in Litespeed (premium) are not available in OpenLitespeed… for example you must restart the server after any .htaccess changes. And of course, OLS also does not support open source PHP handlers like PHP-FPM, which is ironic… in fact, they have been actively discouraging users from trying to compile PHP-FPM on OLS servers, rather undermining their alleged “open source” project values.

Hm, Interesting. They can’t support PHP-FPM and also LSPHP?

they could if they wanted to, but OLS is not really trying to synergize with FOSS community its more like a “free trial” of Litespeed premium.

There are many good questions about Litespeed.

    Like:

    – why do they lie about benchmarks
    – why do they hire only Chinese executives
    – why do they spam Reddit and Facebook with Nginx insults

Litespeed doesn’t want to provide a single piece of your software stack, they want to control your entire software stack. They don’t care about playing nice with other applications because their entire goal is converting you into a paying Litespeed customer. Its fairly easy to deduce from their own statements.

OpenLiteSpeed does not support the PHP-FPM handler because it has its own built-in PHP handler, called LSPHP. LSPHP is designed to work specifically with OLS/LSWS and is optimized for performance and security.

PHP-FPM is a general-purpose PHP handler that can be used with any other web server. It is popular for its flexibility and scalability, but it can be more complex to configure and manage than LSPHP.

LSWS engineers decided to focus on developing and improving LSPHP rather than supporting PHP-FPM. This allows them to provide the best possible performance and security for users. Overall, LSPHP is a good choice for users who want the best possible performance and security.

    – why do they lie about benchmarks:
    https://www.litespeedtech.com/benchmarks
    https://http2benchmark.org

    – why do they hire only Chinese executives:
LiteSpeed is an Equal Opportunity Employer: Minority / Women / Gender / Disability / Ethnicity / Age.

    – why do they spam Reddit and Facebook with Nginx insults
This is not true. Please report misrepresentation activity to: [email protected]
