Custom Cron Jobs (Unrestricted Code) Are Here

December 22, 2020

One of the most requested features ever, custom cron jobs, is finally here! A lot of developers who have come across SlickStack always say “this is awesome and super optimized but I still need the ability to add a few custom cron jobs” for a special API to import their WooCommerce products, or a third party feed, or other similar features that connect with WordPress (etc).

Note: this is NOT the same as wp-cron.php schedules, it is totally separate and distinct. Soon we will also have the ability to customize how your wp-cron is called via the server so that you can disable wp-cron inside WordPress settings… again, this is NOT that and custom cron jobs shouldn’t be used for modifying wp-cron.

In order to add a custom cron job to SlickStack, you simply edit the values for SS_CUSTOM_CRON_ options that now exist in ss-config as of build DEC2020U … there are 13 different custom cron options, because SlickStack has 13 different hardcoded custom cron jobs.

Because our ss core cron jobs will simply “source” anything you put into those options, you can literally put anything you want. It can be php /path/script.php or anything else you desire, as long as it is compatible with bash shell coding.

MailChimp Banned Over Censorship Concerns

Starting immediately, SlickStack has begun warning WordPress sites that have MailChimp software installed that we will begin banning it by default at some point in the near future. (Note: users are always free to install their own plugin blacklist.txt file, instead of using the default one.) This is in accordance with our official goals of […]
