Renew SSL Certificates
An awesome feature of SlickStack is that SSL certificates are auto-renewed if you have ss-encrypt scheduled in your core cron jobs. By default ss-encrypt will run in the “sometimes” cron interval which means around every 2 months, which is within the 3 month expiration of Let’s Encrypt SSL certificates.
By default SlickStack uses OpenSSL certificates anyways (unless you change to Let’s Encrypt) which means they will not expire for several years. This virtually means they never expire since OpenSSL is so easily renewed, it will either renew automatically using the core cron jobs or you are sure to renew it without even knowing it during your normal sysadmin work whenever you run ss-encrypt or other core scripts.
