GuestMaybe this is why they sold Envato to Shutterstock… sales are crashing out and future of WordPress especially unsure?
Sales down 70% from 2018 to 2023 !!! Terrible status! What do you think about the future?

GuestWordpress market is super super super saturated and has been for years
that’s why you get half a dozen themes that are popular, people just don’t have time to try hundreds of themes and too distracted

Guestblog post from 2014, still kinda relevant about race to the bottom and Envato monopoly. personally I always hated Envato’s confusing UI, bloated themes, updating process, and just the entire experience. customer or developer side, both are bad imo

GuestFeb. 2024 post.
What other brands by Envato should you avoid?
The short answer is – avoid all their brands. Do me a favor and don’t give them any chance to earn some extra $ from you. Here is a list of Envato products to be ignored:
Themeforest
Codecanyon
Videohive
Audiojungle
Graphicriver
Photodune
3docean
Envato elements
Envato studio
Envato tuts
Placeit
Milkshake
Mixkit
ReshotMost of these products are dead anyway (or slowly dying), but I listed them here for reference.
These are somehow related and I would still not recommend buying/selling there, so just mentioning them: Creative Market, TemplateMonster, Mojo Marketplace (closed in 2023).
He recommended to just sell on your own website and build your SEO and community.

Guestmaybe this is a good thing?

GuestTemplate Monster is not any better, I check it every so often, it still sucks. For some reason barely any useful reviews on the products, most of them have no reviews. Not much user activity or community. Old UI and lots of strange outdated template categories and stuff.
They are dropping the ball, should have improved by now imo
