I hit the same error once when copying backups between servers — the smaller files went through fine, but as soon as I pushed a huge tarball the transfer collapsed with “transport endpoint is not connected.” Turned out the underlying mount dropped under load, not an SCP issue at all, and I only caught it by testing the mount stability separately. Reminded me a lot of when I was working with https://www.cogniteq.com/blog/smart-parking-systems-what-they-are-and-why-theyre-beneficial where a system seemed fine under light use but exposed hidden weaknesses the moment real traffic hit.
