I’ve always hated the “webp” name, just a horribly goofy filename. Confusing and difficult to say and people think you’re talking about a website or something when you say it. But the bigger reason I hate “webp” is because it only got popular because Google forced it to get popular with their Pagespeed propaganda.

AVIF is a better file format by all measurements, and has a better name.

But Google didn’t invent it, so we are bullied into using webp, which is exactly why I have always refused to use it and will continue to refuse to it!
